Simple Present:
1. The present tense. 2. Expressing an action, etc., now going on or habitually performed.
We use the simple present for repeated actions and for thoughts, feelings and states.
The verb is used without an ending in the Simple Present.
Ex:
We sing in the mornings.
They like bananas.
On the other hand, in third person singular ( he, she, it ) the verb ends in s or es.
Ex:
She types her homeworks everyday.
Manuel drives to school on Mondays.
Simple Past:
1.a past tense or form. 2. what has happened in the past time.
3. Expressing a past action or state.
We use the simple past for something in the past, something which is finished.
The Simple Past is the same in all persons ( I, you, he, she, we, they swam.). The only exception is the past tense
of be.
Ex:
I was short a few moths ago.
You were absent yesterday.
NOTE: regular past form of verbs end in ed, but there are also irregular past forms (verbs
which do not end in ed). See Verb list.
